You may download a copy of Cinderella for evaluation purposes here. This time-limited demo version has to be restarted after 15 minutes of use when the evaluation license has expired, and it can save only a limited number of geometric elements. There are no other restrictions. You can test whether Cinderella runs on your computer and whether it suits your needs.

If you buy a license you can use this license to turn this demo version into a full version.

You can also use the older, but now free version Cinderella 1.4.

You can also download a beta version of the next build from http://beta.cinderella.de/public. Your license is valid for this build as well.


To install Cinderella on Windows platforms (you need at least Windows 95, earlier versions are not supported) download and run the installer install.exe. You will need a working Java Virtual Machine, version 1.3.1 or higher, on your computer. Usually, this is pre-installed, if not, you can get it as a free download from http://www.java.com.

We are currently encountering a new incompatibility between our installer software and the latest Java installations on Windows. This has been fixed for the current beta, but if you want to install version 2.0.17 you can do so by copying the file MSVCR71.DLL from the Java installation folder to the Windows system folder (usually C:\Windows\System or C:\Windows\System32). If this does not work for you, please contact us.

You will be guided through the installation process. Depending on your Windows version and the installed system software the installation process will vary.


(10.4 or higher) To install Cinderella on Mac OS X, just download this application archive. If necessary, extract the archive and drag the Cinderella.2 application to any location you choose.

If you have an Intel-based Mac, you should use this version. This will use another Java version (1.5 instead of 1.3.1) and is much faster on Intel machines (and a little bit slower on PowerPC machines). We hope to be able to provide a single application bundle for both architectures soon, but it turned out to be a little bit tricky.

(10.x before 10.4) For older Macs still running Mac OS X 10.3, 10.2, 10.1 or even 10.0 we also provide version 2.0.17 of Cinderella. However, we recommend Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or higher. Starting with version 2.1 Cinderella will no longer be compatible with pre-10.4 systems.


Cinderella.2 is not supported on Mac OS 9. Please upgrade to Mac OS X.


If you have a Java VM (version 1.3.1 or higher) on your Unix-based workstation, you might be able to run Cinderella. Please download this executable and run it.

Please be aware that there are too many different flavors of Linux and Unix to be supportable. If you encouter problems, please ask your local guru, or contact us.


If you are using none of the above operating systems, but still have a Java Virtual Machine, you can try to use the all-Java installer found here. Download the JAR file and try to run it, for example using "java -jar install.jar". YMMV. If you need help, please contact us.
