Golden Gate Simulation: Parabola/Catenary


Hello!

I loved the Golden Gate Simulation available in the Cinderella Blog. Nice example. However, I have two doubts:

(1) Isn't the shape of the initial simulation curve a catenary, while the shape of suspension cables in suspension bridges is a parabola? So wouldn't it be better to start with a conic as initial curve to be projectively transformed?

(2) Is it possible to projectively transform a graph of function or an image (JPG)?

(1) the shape of the initial simulation is also a parabola, in fact.
